Square-grid pattern, 55 × 56 cells, made on Chromattice.
Waffle weave: warp and weft floats that get longer towards the middle of each cell, framed by ridges of plain weave. Washed, the floats draw up and the cloth turns into deep square pockets. The best dish towel there is. Threaded to a point, 1-2-3-4-3-2, nine times and a 1 to balance. Five treadles, rising: 1; 2; 1-3; 1-2-4; 1-2-3. Treadled 1-2-3-4-5-4-3-2. Natural warp, rust weft. Sett: 8/2 cotton at 24 ends an inch, the twill sett, not plain weave's 20: "waffle weave has such long floats" (Jane Stafford). Any more open and the weft packs down and won't stay balanced. 24 picks. Tip: it shrinks more than plain weave once washed, so allow for it. Use floating selvedges. Checked against Angela Pawlyn's "Point twill and much more" (the lifts) and Warped Fibers' waffle weave (point threading, shrinkage, selvedges): https://angelapawlyn.co.uk/point_twill_and_much_more.htm and https://help.janestaffordtextiles.com/article/355-waffle-weave-sett
