Square-grid pattern, 60 × 70 cells, made on Chromattice.
Huck lace, huckaback: plain weave with groups of floats that slide together into little lacy holes when the cloth is washed. The old linen towel weave. Block A 2-3-2-3-2, block B 1-4-1-4-1, in turn. Plain weave is 1-3 and 2-4. Five picks a group: plain, pattern, plain, pattern, plain. A pattern pick is a plain shed with a pattern shaft taken out (weft floats) or added (warp floats). Treadles: 1-3, 2-4, 1 (A weft), 2-3-4 (A warp), 2 (B weft), 1-3-4 (B warp). Sett: plain-weave sett. 20/2 linen at 20 ends an inch (Schacht's chart: 20-24 for tabby), 20 picks, one shuttle. Huck is usually all one yarn and colour; here it's pale indigo on white so the floats show. Tip: almost two thirds of the ends are on shafts 1 and 2. Check the heddles.
