Weaving draft on 8 shafts and 6 treadles, 100 ends × 264 picks, made on Chromattice.
Tea towel checks as a checkerboard of checkerboards: big squares of 5 × 5 units, each itself a checkerboard of units. The light units are the plain-weave ground everywhere; the dark units are overshot floats in the dark squares and a halftone (the pattern weft woven plain) in the light ones. Eight shafts, two for each kind of unit column, and six treadles: four pattern sheds and the two tabbies. Natural cotton warp and tabby; the pattern weft changes rust, pumpkin and oat with each row of big squares, with a tabby pick after every pattern pick and a plain-weave hem at both ends. Units are 4 ends; where a dark square meets a light one, the pattern weft floats 8 ends on the back.
