Wide-cell pattern, 68 × 136 cells, made on Chromattice.
Overshot: a pattern weft floats over a plain-weave ground, with a tabby pick between every pattern pick to hold the cloth together. Monk's belt is its two-block form, the blocks on opposite pairs of shafts. Block A 1-2-1-2 on shafts 1 and 2, block B 3-4-3-4 on 3 and 4, narrow at the edges, wider in the middle, ending on A. Treadles: 1-3 and 2-4 for tabby, 3-4 for block A, 1-2 for block B. Star fashion, each block as many pattern picks as it has ends, linen tabby between. Sett: the ground is set for a balanced tabby. Schacht's sampler uses 8/2 linen at 15 ends an inch, the tabby the same linen, the pattern Shetland wool doubled. Beat the tabby to 15 picks; counting the pattern picks too, 30. Tip: keep the blocks to 8 ends or so: the floats are as long as the blocks are wide. Checked against Schacht's Monk's belt sampler (A on 1-2, B on 3-4; lift 3-4 for A, 1-2 for B, tabby 1-3 / 2-4; the yarns and sett): https://schachtspindle.com/blogs/archives/monks-belt-sampler
