Wide-cell pattern, 49 × 100 cells, made on Chromattice.
Rosepath, rosengång: a four-shaft point twill that turns on shaft 1, so treadled as drawn in it makes small crosses and roses. A favourite in Swedish weaving. Threaded 1-2-3-4-1-4-3-2 six times, with a last end on 1. Tie-up: the 2/2 twill (1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-1) and two tabby treadles, 1-3 and 2-4. Treadled as drawn in, 1-2-3-4-1-4-3-2 three times and 1 to close, each pattern treadle twice, with a linen tabby after every madder pick. Sett: the ground is tabby, so 20/2 linen at 20 ends an inch (Schacht's chart: 20-24 for tabby). Beat the tabby to 20 picks; with the pattern picks between, that's 40 an inch. Tip: the pattern weft should be thicker and softer than the tabby, wool on linen, so it covers. Checked against Hamilton East Public Library's floor-loom guide (“1,2,3,4,1,4,3,2”; pattern treadles 1&2, 2&3, 3&4, 4&1). The tabby treadles are added here: https://ignite.hamiltoneastpl.org/dressing-the-floor-loom/ and https://schachtspindle.com/pages/sett-chart
