Square-grid pattern, 64 × 48 cells, made on Chromattice.
Advancing twill: the twill runs don't continue, they restart, each a shaft further on than the last. The diagonal steps along in short flights instead of one long line. Good for table runners and towels. Threaded in runs of four, advancing one shaft: 1-2-3-4, 2-3-4-1, 3-4-1-2, 4-1-2-3. That's sixteen ends, four times. The 2/2 twill tie-up (1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-1), treadled straight, 1-2-3-4. Indigo warp, birch-yellow weft. Sett: 8/2 cotton at 24 ends an inch, the firm twill sett Jane Stafford gives (20-24), and 24 picks. Tip: where one run ends and the next begins, the threading skips a shaft (…4, 2…), and that's the step. Every float stays at two. Checked against Handwoven's twill glossary: advancing twill is "twill runs … of two or more ends" that begin "on one shaft (or more) above … the beginning shaft of the previous run": https://handwovenmagazine.com/refresh-your-weaving-knowledge-with-this-twill-glossary/ and https://janestaffordtextiles.com/products/8-2-cotton-1
