Square-grid pattern, 48 × 48 cells, made on Chromattice.
Broken twill: the twill line reverses, but not cleanly. It's staggered at each turn, so instead of a long diagonal the cloth shows short, offset ones. A firm, quiet cloth for jackets, bags and upholstery. Threaded 3-4-1-2-4-3-2-1, eight ends a repeat, six repeats. The usual 2/2 twill tie-up (1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-1), treadled straight, 1-2-3-4. Walnut warp, natural weft: dark against light, so the breaks show. Sett: 8/2 cotton at 24 ends an inch, the firmer end of the 20-24 Jane Stafford gives for twill, and 24 picks. Tip: repeat the unit as written. Run Handwoven's longer example straight into itself (…2-1, 1-2…) and two ends share shaft 1, which makes a float of four. Checked against Schacht's twill sampler, part 2 (broken twill "3,4,1,2,4,3,2,1, repeat"), and Handwoven's twill glossary (treadled straight): https://schachtspindle.com/blogs/archives/weaving-a-twill-sampler-part-2 and https://janestaffordtextiles.com/products/8-2-cotton-1
